Spirit of Baltimore cruise ship crashes into Fells Point pier

Spirit of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor cruise ship crashed into a pier at Fells Point in the city of Baltimore, Maryland while it was on its way back to berth at the end of a midnight cruise last Sunday, August 28. The ship suffering from minor damage and caused around 60 feet to be ripped from the pier, the United States Coast Guard reported.

The cruise ship had over 400 guests and crew members onboard for a midnight soiree. The deck was filled party-goers in celebration of an event called an “All Linen Affair”.

Spirit Cruises reported that two individuals were injured as a result of the accident, noting, “Spirit Cruises takes the safety of our passengers, community, and shipmates very seriously. The company is conducting a full investigation and cooperating fully with the United States Coast Guard.”

Inner Harbor cruise operations resumed the same day.
