On Monday, December 9, Peter Simon, a former cruise ship employee, filed a lawsuit against Princess Cruise Lines Ltd. alleging that the company refused to take action regarding the injury that he received while working aboard the ship.

According to the lawsuit, Simon was arranging coffee cups in preparation for a guest dinner when a particular lifting motion caused injury to his lumbar spine. Simon said the respondent failed to properly provide back support and suitable medical assistance, leading to the worsening of his physical condition.

Simon’s doctors advised him to avoid straining his spine due to “disc herniation, nerve compression, and spondylosis.”  These medical instructions disable the plaintiff from continuing his work aboard the cruise line.
